KPPA was officially establish on 03 October 2009 with the support of the Ministry of Commerce and AFD (Agence Française de Développement/French Agency for Development) by GRET (Groupe de Recherche et d’Echanges Technologiques) and CEDAC (Centre d’Etude et de Développement/Cambodian Centre for Study and Development in Agriculture) organizations.

The KPPA is currently led by Mr. SIM Sottoum (who is acting as a Head of Executive Committee) and Mr. KAN Sinoch (who is acting as a Head of the Board).

The KPPA is the leader in protecting and promoting Kampot pepper, the farmers, their plantation, and the rich history of Kampot pepper. We provide our association members – both producers and processors – with educational resources and networking opportunities, while encouraging the highest standards of pepper production, focusing on quality and authenticity. Our current membership is nearly 500 strong and we strive for more each year. The formation of our association has aided our members in becoming more visible to the international market and encouraged more fair trade practices, thereby benefiting farms of all sizes.

The KPPA, a non-profit entity, also serves as the governing body tasked with ensuring that all pepper sold under the ‘Kampot pepper’ name passes all requirements as dictated in the Book of Specifications. We take special care to work with Kampot pepper farmers and processors in the initial task of becoming a registered member of the KPPA, as well as continued maintenance and inspections in order to guarantee consumers that the product they are buying meet the strict requirements – from planting and fertilization, to irrigation, pest control, harvesting, processing, and storing.

This site offers resources, education, industry directories, and other valuable tools for pepper professionals and enthusiasts alike. Membership in the Kampot Pepper Promotion Association is available to anyone who grows or assists in the selling process. We invite all to explore our site and take part in supporting Kampot farming families by joining our association as a member or by buying ecologically sourced and organically certified Kampot pepper.

To achieve the objectives, KPPA has the following missions:
